Case Study · FITNESS · MOBILE
A points-and-streak engagement system that turns everyday movement into shared progress.
The story
Fitness products usually fail at the point where novelty wears off, when the user has to come back on a busy day and feel that small amounts of movement still count. SweatScore turns everyday movement into a social challenge, using points, streaks, and monthly goals to make consistency feel achievable rather than punitive. V1 shipped that foundation to the App Store and Google Play. KUMO then built the V2 engagement system: challenge operations, dual-recording capture, a community feed, leaderboards, and freemium logic, so movement becomes visible progress, progress becomes social proof, and social proof brings users back into the next challenge.
What we delivered
A monthly challenge model with a 500-point completion target, points for activity, and a five-day weekly streak. This gamification core is live on iOS and Android, rewarding consistency over perfection.
A repeatable admin workflow to create, configure, and publish challenges: title, imagery, instructional video, point allocation with validation, duration and recording limits, free-versus-premium locking, and editing with republishing.
A split-screen capture format where a reference instructional video plays while the user records their attempt, with countdown and time-remaining indicators, automatic stop at the limit, mirroring, microphone controls, and iOS-specific recording handling.
Completed challenges flow into a community feed with reactions, comments, and a Try this route back into activity. Permissions are tiered across free, paid, and admin roles, with reporting, blocking, and moderation as baseline safety.
A monthly leaderboard combining a countdown, a top-three podium, the signed-in user's pinned position, progress toward the 500-point target, and badges for goal achievers, with free and premium visibility rules.
Access defined at the behaviour level: free users keep tracking, daily check-ins, streak points, and capped daily activity points, while premium members receive uncapped earning, full challenge access, and a personal recording library, with paywalls at relevant moments.
